Social Worker - Safeguarding

Salary: £40235 - £49513 per annum

A well-regarded local authority in Herefordshire is currently seeking experienced and passionate Social Workers to join its Safeguarding & Support Teams. This is a permanent opportunity offering meaningful work, professional development, and a supportive team culture.

The Role

Social Workers in this service play a vital role in supporting children, young people, and their families. The successful candidate will work directly with families to build trust, offer early help, and take decisive action when necessary to ensure safety and wellbeing. The approach is restorative and inclusive, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and keeping the child's voice at the centre of practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, child-centred social work
  • Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and implement interventions
  • Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies
  • Promote safeguarding and positive outcomes for children
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be registered with Social Work England
  • Hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW)
  • Demonstrate experience in statutory children's social care
  • Be confident in decision-making and resilient under pressure
  • Be committed to inclusive, strengths-based practice

Team Environment

The Safeguarding & Support service consists of six teams operating across three locality offices: South, North, and Central Herefordshire. Each team includes a Team Manager, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, and Family Support Workers. Locality working supports strong team connections, easy access to supervision, and flexibility for home working.

Senior managers are actively involved in supporting staff, particularly with complex cases, and the service is proud of its restorative approach to social work, which is embedded in both team culture and leadership style.
