Senior Social Worker - Child Protection Team

Location: London Borough of Hackney
Contract: Temporary
Pay Rate: Up to £39.04 per hour

Connect2Socialwork is proud to be working in partnership with the London Borough of Hackney to recruit an experienced Senior Social Worker for their Child Protection Team.

The Role

As a Senior Social Worker within Child Protection, you will manage a complex caseload and play a vital role in safeguarding children at risk of significant harm. You will undertake robust assessments, lead Child Protection planning, contribute to court proceedings, and deliver purposeful interventions that improve long-term outcomes for children and families.

You will work collaboratively with families, internal colleagues and partner agencies, contributing to a supportive and reflective team culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete statutory child and family assessments, evidencing clear analysis of risk and protective factors
• Lead and manage Child Protection Plans in line with legislation and London Child Protection Procedures
• Undertake direct work with children and families, ensuring children's voices are heard and clearly recorded
• Prepare high-quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, reviews and court proceedings
• Manage a complex caseload effectively, meeting statutory timescales and performance expectations
• Work closely with multi-agency partners to safeguard children and promote their welfare
• Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality case recording in line with council standards
• Exercise strong professional judgement, accountability and reflective practice

About You

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Minimum 3 years' post-qualified experience within an English Local Authority
• Significant experience working within Child Protection
• Confident managing high levels of risk and complexity in pressurised environments
• Skilled in systemic practice and social learning theory approaches
• Committed to anti-racist practice, equality and challenging discrimination
• Resilient, reflective and motivated to deliver consistently high-quality social work
