The Role
As a Senior Social Worker, you will manage a complex caseload and lead on high-quality, relationship-based practice across a range of specialist teams, including:
- Family Safeguarding
- Assessment Teams
- Looked After Children & Care Leavers
- Family Safeguarding Hub
You'll take a lead role in supporting vulnerable children by completing assessments, managing risk, and driving plans that improve outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload involving children, families and carers
- Undertake strengths-based assessments and develop SMART care plans
- Lead child protection investigations and safeguarding interventions
- Chair multi-agency meetings such as strategy discussions, CIN reviews and permanency planning
- Work collaboratively with partners including health, education, police and legal services
- Support children to remain safely within their families where possible, or progress care proceedings when necessary
- Provide mentoring and supervision to less experienced staff
- Maintain accurate, high-quality case records in line with statutory requirements
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
- Registration with Social Work England (or working towards)
- Substantial experience in children's social care within a UK statutory setting
- Strong knowledge of childcare legislation and safeguarding frameworks
- Proven ability to manage risk and make sound professional decisions in complex situations
- Excellent communication and partnership working skills
- Experience of supervision, mentoring or leadership is desirable
