The Role

As a Senior Social Worker, you will manage a complex caseload and lead on high-quality, relationship-based practice across a range of specialist teams, including:

  • Family Safeguarding
  • Assessment Teams
  • Looked After Children & Care Leavers
  • Family Safeguarding Hub

You'll take a lead role in supporting vulnerable children by completing assessments, managing risk, and driving plans that improve outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload involving children, families and carers
  • Undertake strengths-based assessments and develop SMART care plans
  • Lead child protection investigations and safeguarding interventions
  • Chair multi-agency meetings such as strategy discussions, CIN reviews and permanency planning
  • Work collaboratively with partners including health, education, police and legal services
  • Support children to remain safely within their families where possible, or progress care proceedings when necessary
  • Provide mentoring and supervision to less experienced staff
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality case records in line with statutory requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
  • Registration with Social Work England (or working towards)
  • Substantial experience in children's social care within a UK statutory setting
  • Strong knowledge of childcare legislation and safeguarding frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage risk and make sound professional decisions in complex situations
  • Excellent communication and partnership working skills
  • Experience of supervision, mentoring or leadership is desirable
