Senior Practitioner - Safeguarding & Support
A forward-thinking local authority in Herefordshire is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join its Safeguarding & Support Teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate social care professional to play a key role in service improvement and workforce development.
The Role
The Senior Practitioner will work collaboratively with managers and partner agencies to deliver high-quality services to children, young people, and families. This role is central to Herefordshire's restorative journey of improvement and offers the chance to make a genuine impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting and mentoring apprentices, step-up students, and family support workers
- Leading on practice development and training across the wider service
- Implementing practice standards, quality assurance frameworks, and professional values
- Providing coaching and supervision to team members
- Contributing to a safe, supportive, and learning-focused team culture
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent)
- Be registered with Social Work England
- Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in statutory children's social care
- Be committed to delivering positive outcomes for children and families
- Demonstrate strong leadership, mentoring, and practice development skills
Team Environment
The Safeguarding & Support service operates across three locality-based teams, each comprising Team Managers, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, and Family Support Workers. The teams benefit from:
