It's National Apprenticeship Week! #NAW2018
5th - 9th March 2018
We love supporting young talent here at Connect2Staff and Connect2Kent, so meet our current apprentices below and find out how their experiences have been so far!
Claire Taylor – Education Apprentice
Being an apprentice at Connect2Staff has been and will continue to be an excellent hands on experience for me starting out in the recruitment industry.
I love my apprenticeship because each day I am surrounded by experienced consultants who are passionate about giving me in-depth advice and training to help me learn and succeed as a professional. As the Apprentice on the Education team, I make regular contact with current and prospective candidates, delivering high levels of customer service and representing Connect2Staff in the correct manner. Alongside this, I also handle all of the compliance for our candidates, ensuring that all necessary checks are taken before finding them work into the schools.
Last week, I made my first permanent placement into a local nursery which I’m really proud of! I feel really valued that my team trusted me and gave me so much responsibility to take this placement on by myself. My apprenticeship is really supporting and helping me develop into a full 360 recruitment consultant and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me here at Connect2Staff.
Brandon Castellani - Business Development Apprentice
I have really enjoyed my time here at Connect2Staff since starting my apprenticeship. It’s a brilliant place for me to have started my career in recruitment as I am surrounded by experienced consultants who I learn from on a daily basis. During my Business Development apprenticeship, I will move around each different team in the company, allowing me to experience different roles and how each team works.
I started off doing business development as part of the Health Care team, my job was to generate new interest from care homes in and around the Kent area. I have now moved onto the Qualified Social Worker desk and am resourcing candidates for the consultants. I feel that I am receiving brilliant support from the rest of the team and that every day they motivate me to exceed expectations.
Everyone within the business has been extremely welcoming to me and this has enabled me to settle in very quickly.
Lacey Waller – Apprentice, Connect2Kent
I choose to do an apprenticeship because I wanted to develop my skills within a business environment. Doing this, I get my business qualification whilst working on the office floor. Within Connect2Kent I have many responsibilities. This includes helping with administration duties across all of the desks, dealing with phone queries and transferring over to the relevant person, I chase purchase order numbers and help on the shift desk once a week. I enjoy doing this because it helps me gain knowledge in different areas of recruitment which will benefit me in the future when progressing.
So far, I have really enjoyed my time here with Connect2Kent and I enjoying working in such a motivated and warming environment. I even won Employee of the Month a few months back, which I was really proud of as it showed how much my team values me and my work.
Beth Norrington, Business Support Apprentice
During my time at Connect2Staff as a Resourcer apprentice I have learnt so much and many different things! Everyone made me feel welcome the second I walked in as it is such a warm and close environment.
As an apprentice on the Business Support Team, I deal with contacting future and present candidates in customer service roles, telephone interviewing them, checking that they are compliant to work and placing job adverts. I love doing this as it is a great start for me within recruitment and future progression and I am constantly learning new skills.
Romey Harris - Quality Assurance & Compliance Apprentice
The past couple of months at Connect2Kent have been amazing. In the short time that I have been here I have learnt so much, everyone is so welcoming and have made me feel so comfortable in my role as a Compliance Apprentice.
My main role as an apprentice in compliance is to ensure all DBS’ are valid, allowing our candidates to work. I think it’s good to have responsibility, especially as an apprentice; although it may be quite daunting at times, I have gained so much experience whilst being here!
